The best websites for short films submitted to our festival in 2019
We hope that this experience of creating short film websites will be useful not only for beginners but also for those who are interested in film promotion.
The website is not only a business card for a film or a film company, but it is also a way to communicate with film festivals, screening organisers, distributors, etc. In some cases, the website looks like an artistic continuation of a film, its conceptual frame.
You can, of course, use your FilmFreeway or Festhome account, a link to Vimeo or YouTube, Facebook, IMDb personal page. You can limit yourself to free hosting of WordPress or Wix, as well as use the templates you like on your hosting.
A link to the film’s website makes it easier for film festival organisers to publish a catalogue and announce film programmes on the Internet and social networks. A number of prestigious film festivals make links to the websites of the films selected for the competition programme on their pages. So this is one of the reasons why the website should look worthy if a film career is important for a director, for example. Thanks to the film website, you can download the necessary press-kit materials, information about the director, film stills, posters, trailers, subtitles, etc.
Short Movie Club has selected the most exciting websites for short films/film companies submitted to our festival in 2019. This review revealed a great variety of approaches to creating short film websites. Therefore, we have conditionally arranged the finalists into five nominations:
- Digital Art
- Vintage and Original Style
- Classic genre
- Engagement
- Humour and interaction with visitors
