FILM PROGRAMMES
In 2026, the festival took place for the twelfth time and became a magnet for filmmakers, film enthusiasts and film experts. The festival proved its resilience in the face of exile, forging strong, horizontal connections and communities of film lovers across different countries. This spring, we spent our time in the auditoriums of the Kinoteka cinema in Warsaw, where we focused on screenings of experimental films and video art. A collaboration with the Berlin Centre for Culture and Urbanism resulted in an event that, in the words of one participant, ‘combined politics and poetry’. Then there was a packed auditorium in Vilnius and an underground screening in Minsk, where an atmosphere of warmth and solidarity reigned. And, of course, our traditional gatherings in a quiet corner of Helsinki, which bring together local filmmakers and city dwellers.
Well then, our wandering raft consciously yields to the wind, exploring new islands and places, opening up to new horizons of understanding.
Welcome aboard!
Like all the others, the screening in Warsaw was accompanied by a live performance by the festival’s driving force and long-standing curator, Alexander Martynyuk. Festival-goers, together with characters from “The Wizard of Oz”, find themselves in an augmented reality environment thanks to special glasses fitted with an algorithmic filter.
The screening in Berlin brought together the practices of cooking and experimentation. Photos made by Alessandro Baroni ©.

As well as an engaging discussion and lively debate in the crowded space at Zolak, we were treated to a performance-based shoot for an upcoming film by one of Belarus’s most renowned independent directors, Nikita Lavretsky.
