INTERRUPTED DREAM
Giles Timms (USA, 2 min; 2021)
A spiritual dreamscape drifts the viewer in and out of a familiar, yet unfamiliar, urban setting. A world that offers moments of escape and insight. Windows into the given world that allow us to see beyond the terrific and terrifying absurdity of modern life. < Website >
ACH SO
Polina Piddubna (Ukraine, 3 min; 2022)
I rent a very small room in Berlin (which reminds me of a coffin) and have very strange dreams there. People are held in suspense for two years without knowing when will it all be over. The club is closed, the ambulance won’t come and everything that’s left to do is just walking around the city with your inner monsters.
THE MOON RISES DURING THE DAY (SOUND SCULPTURE)
Na Li (United Kingdom, 3 min; 2022)
The 2D abstract hand-drawn animation comes from Na Li’s improvisational drawings inspired by a piece of music. She visualized the sound through automatic drawing, creating the film in a semi-conscious state.
Na drew symbols to represent the sounds and instruments she heard, using abstract drawings to translate a poem.
FORTRESS
ZALESKY’S Slawek Zalewski (Poland, 13 min; 2021)
Authoritarian authorities declare a state of siege. A visually impaired old man is appointed commander of the defense. The city becomes a closed fortress. One doctrine applies – there is an enemy all around! The manipulated citizens trust the propaganda, unreservedly and eagerly prepare for defense. As part of mobilization, the regime introduces morning gymnastics. To confuse the enemy, street names are changed. Volunteers appear, ready to die for the cause. The protagonist, torn internally between patriotism and rationalism, wants to escape. The authorities, to emphasize the threat, decide to fire a cannon at the enemy. The city disappears, but everything is under control. The fortress becomes history, and the demons of war never sleep…. < Website >

You are what you eat. < Website >
DOLL+: BODY TRANSMIGRATION IN ITS IDEAL FANTASY
Ran Zhou (Canada, 13 min; 2022)
Plastic dolls dance in the sky to a pop song. In a posthuman world, the perfect body is made of orange-yellow plastic in a factory in China. This figure without gender exists in a virtual space where illness, death and aesthetics are only absurd concepts. In 3-D animations, the film ponders on capitalism, virtuality and the human body. < Website >
CAMOUFLAGE

Camouflage is a dystopian thriller in which we follow the story of office clerk Amouf. This flamboyant and highly intimidating creature is a hate-instigating vigilante, who has sworn to systematically prosecute certain groups and Amouf is not a brave character. Will he be strong enough to resist? < Website >
